OutsourcingIf you are an admirer of Ruby, but do not have, or want to invest the time to develop the program you need, outsourcing is the answer. There are many companies with that the experts you need, and the desire to help. Before you outsource, it is very important to ask yourself a few questions:
Since Ruby is new, and there are not as many programmers, compared to other languages very few companies have the resources to do programming themselves. It is important to remember, a programmer may not be capable in all languages. The learning curve could be extremely steep. Hiring a true expert can save time and a lot of headache.
This is an option. The cost are heavy at the beginning, due to training, and other employee related expenses. Also, you may not have enough work to keep a full-time person busy. Because of this, outsourcing your programming results in sharing resources. Not having to pay for idle time, or training.
This is extremely difficult. It is important to screen those you outsource to. After this, we recommend periodic updates, with hard deadlines for achieving project milestones. This will not only ensure your project is complete on time, but signal to your contractor what you expect and demand.
Like most programming, there is no given skill-set. The most important factor is what they have done in the past, and if they have any certifications. Abilities in other languages can also give you an idea about how good they are at Ruby, although this is not always the case.
We are searching and compiling a list. Please e-mail info@rubyoutsourcing.com for more information on this.
There are many benefits, but also many unknowns with Ruby. I personally would encourage you to use Ruby, but you need to do your own research and determine which language is best for you.
